Program components
- Theatre Training of Trainers for YOH Affiliates, Associates and Stakeholders
Community mobilization
Community mobilization is a participatory process that increases a community’s sense of ownership and collective efficacy. It is a transformative process, shifting a community from “recipients” or “beneficiaries” of “projects” to active planners and participants in the health and well being of the community and its members. Community mobilization is a proven development strategy that has helped people around the world identify and address health care issues,. To implement this proven strategy, with which YOHO has years of experience, YOHO integrates its activities with those of participating health districts in addition to supporting locally based youth groups to mobilize others to define and act upon their health problems. This is attained through mass reach activities and related reinforcement and communications activities.
- National Commemorations and Festivals
These are national commemorations that include Month of Youth, Month of Prayer and World AIDS Day. The national festivals include amongst others 20 year old Maitisong Festival, government organized district and national festival/youth rallies. YOHO’s participation in these events will continue to run across the structures, from VIP’s, sound technicians, theatre performers, musicians and youth representation at planning and evaluation levels. Every quarter of the year will have one of these events. The main direct YOHO activity to maintain these linkages will be through the use of road shows with a full Triple E program delivery intervention team.
- Development of manuals to professionalize the arts industry- Theatre Competitions Adjudicators Manual, Artists Involvement, Theatre for Development Communication Manual
District Based Outreach Activities
YOHO will continue its collaborative district based outreach activities. These include Road Shows, Bus Ride Education, and Community and Student Days, planned, implemented and evaluated by indigenous youth groups.
